Carlos Slim was born to Julian Slim Haddad and Linda Helu Atta in the year 1940. His birthplace was Mexico City, and both his parents were Catholic. He was interested in business since a young age and always wanted to be a businessman. His father taught him the nuances of finance, accounting, and management.
When he was 11, he made an investment in a government saving bond and started making a ledger for all the economic transactions he did. The following year he purchased shares in the Mexican bank. By the age of 15, he was the shareholder in Mexico’s largest bank. He did civil engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. After his engineering degree, he took courses in Economics in Chile.
