Later, he joined Picayune Memorial High School as an assistant coach in 1966. Other places he served as the associate coach are Wichita State University, Lowa State University, Big Eight Conference school.
Jimmy became the head coach of Oklahoma State in 1979. He coached the team for five years and later went to the University of Miami as the head coach. The team had a 52-9 record and went ahead to win a national championship in 1987. They had many undefeated wins under Jimmy’s leadership. Other teams, he coached were Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys.
His Television career kicked off after he left the Dolphins in 1999. He started working for Fox Sports as a Tv studio analyst. He currently a member of staff at Fox NFL Sunday show and is also the analyst for Bowl Championship Series.
As an actor, he appeared in films like ‘The Waterboy,’ ‘The Shield,’ and the ‘Coach.’ He has also appeared in several commercials.
