While growing up, he used to enter casinos in New Jersey and Atlantic City to play real poker. In the late 1990s, he used to work at a telemarketing firm in New Jersey. There he used to play poker with his c-workers. He used to secure ID cards to play poker. In his id card, one of his nicknames was “No Home Jerome”. By winning the 2002 WSOP (World Series of Poker) bracelets, he was given the nickname “The Phenom”. He is also sometimes referred as the “the Tiger Woods of Poker”.
In the World Series of Poker 2002, he won three bracelets. He was tied with top poker players to have maximum wins in the World Series. In 2000, he also won a bracelet in Pot Limit Omaha. In 2000, he became the first individual to defeat Amarillo Slim at the WSOP final table. From 2002 to 2009, he has finished four times in the top 25 of the World Series of Poker.
