He started making his YouTube videos after he turned his high school projects into videos and upload them to YouTube. He then went on to lose weight, losing up to 68 Kilograms. He loves dogs and has been known to have five dogs namely Chocolate, Miley, Unicorn, Uno and Charlie.
He further has two cats, showing him to be a great pet person. Shane once dated Lisa Schwartz and they even moved in together for a while before they broke up and separated. He is now dating Ryland Adams from the 24th of October, 2016.
Shane’s first YouTube channel is known as ‘ShaneDawsonTV’ was started in the year 2008, March and the first video that is still on the channel was uploaded after three months. At that point in time, he was working at Jenny Craig, same to his brother and mother.
However, in August the same year, Shane, his brother, and mother as well as six others were all fired after they appeared in a video uploaded by Shane which showed him pole dancing inside the building where they worked.
