For a layman, any music is worth listening as long as it has good message and it is perfectly done. Sometimes, we might even make it our favorite simply because it was done by our favorite singers. Rarely do we take time to learn anything deep about the songs we choose and which can be classified together and which ones are worlds apart.
The funniest thing is that very few people even care about this whole theory about music and the power behind it. The story is however very different when it comes to musicians, singers, songwriter, instrumentalists and everyone actively involved in the world of music. For them they need to have everything in place if they must be able to become experts in this industry.
If you want to be actively involved in the world of music, one thing you need to do is to understand what you are good at. This will make it easier for you to know the best people to work with and who would easily fit into your circle of friends. Although starting out as a solo artists has worked for many, there are others who are better of working in a band.
This explains the reason why you need to know what you are good at so that the musicians you team up with, be of the same interest. The love of rock music led to the formation of Steel Panther band in Los Angeles, California, United States. Steel Panther band is made of 4 members is mostly known for its humorous and profane lyrics not forgetting it’s the on-stage exaggerated pastiche of the “glam metal” stereotypical lifestyle.
Well, how well do you know about Steel Panther? If not much, here is what we know about Steel Panther to date.
It was during the early 2000s when Steel Panther band was formed and initially, it was known as Metal Shop and it gained popularity on the sunset trip. Between 2000 and early 2003, it used the name Metal Shop, and in 2003, they again changed to Danger Kitty. In later 2003, they again changed to their name to Metal Skool and they worked under this title until 2008 and this is the same time they adopted the name Steel Panther which they use to date. The band consisted of drummer Darren Leader (“Stix Zadinia”), vocalist Ralph Saenz (“Michael Starr”), guitarist Russ Parrish (“Satchel”) and bassist Travis Haley (“Lexxi Foxx”)
For a start, the band had weekly shows at the Viper Room on Monday nights and subsequently the Key Club. Before they had made their own labels, they would initially play covers of hair metal hits and they would also share their love for the band which made these songs famous.
Although they kept on changing their name, after some time, they managed to mark great success. Their first self-produced extended play was tiled Hotel Patrol which was released in 2003. In Discover Card, they were featured as Danger Kitty and in Sitcom Drew Carey Show, they were featured as themselves. Some of their songs were also taken and used in different settings. These include the “Aldo” and “Kiss” among others.
In April 2008, they finally decided to drop the name Metal Skool and adopt the name Steel Panther and they made a new debut in Redlands, California at The Rockin’ Saddle Club. In May the same year, thy signed a contract with Republic Records that was owned by Universal Records. They immediately announced plans of releasing a new studio album.
On 8th of June in 2009, they released Feel the Steel in the United Kingdom and on 6th October the same year, they released the same song in North America by the help of Universal Republic and they made this their main record label. Luckily, this was a great success and on The Billbosrd Comedy it debuted at No. 1 and on Billboard 200 chart, it debuted at No. 123.
Feel the Steel singles Death to All but Metal and Community Property and it also features notable guest vocal performances from Justin Hawkins, Corey Taylor, and M. Shadows. Video game Skate 3 has featured the song “Eyes of a Panther” as their soundtrack. On October 31st, 2011, they released their second album titled Balls Out in the United Kingdom and on 1st of November in 2011, through Universal Republic, they released the album in North America. The revival of the heavy metal genre was continued by Balls Out and luckily, on UK iTunes Rock Chart, it debuted at No.1 surpassing Lou Reed’s and Metallica’s Lulu and Megadeth’s TH1RT3EN.
Steel Panther has been there for more than 10 years now and over the years, they have not only earned great fame, but they have also attracted great awards and nominations. Some of these include; Best Debut; Feel the Steel – Metal Hammer Germany, Loudwire Music Awards in the category of Live Act of the Year for both 2012 and 2013 among others.

Although the band has been there for several years now, they have not been able to earn much from their music. As of 2023, their net worth is at $200 thousand. However, since they are still very actively involved in tours and releasing new albums, we expect this to rise in the coming years.
